theoreticalbacon asked: Hello! If you remember your post on the 6th, the pen doodle of "Homestuck MH doll repaint designs"(I have no idea what dolls this refers to, although I'm curious!), I was wondering if you might type those notes below them up sometime, or expand on your thoughts there. I can't read most of it as-is with my eyesight, but what I can make out is interesting, I'm always fascinated with different people's headcanons for character's features and things like that.

Hey nice person! Sorry that it took me basically a week to get to this.

The issue with the designs I made for the dolls is that designing the face to paint on the doll is constrained by the sculpted features already on the doll. As a result, the designs I drew up there for painting the doll is not my actual headcanons.

The doll head itself is the Werewolf model of the Create-a-Monster line from a series of dolls by Mattel called Monster High, and it has a fairly deeply sculpted “:3” mouth that is also rather small, medium-sized almond shaped eyes, and strong cheekbones. I chose it because it comes in a light grey color— perfect for the Homestuck troll ladies. It’s not ideal due to the facial features, basically. I have to design around the existing features to make the headmold workable with the characters by employing a lot of face painting trickery, haha. These challenges are part of what makes painting dolls fun, though!

I’ve been painting it as Vriska because it fits best to what I want Vriska to look like, and second best for Nepeta. It’s not what I want for Terezi (who is more suitable for a doll that has a wider mouth, though the almond shaped eyes are okay) or Kanaya (who I want a calm, gentle smile for and maybe rounder eyes).

So since you’re interested in headcanons, expanding on the designs I made for the dolls would not be true to what are my real headcanons. :)
